We’re holding an optional information session for the Media Center Consultant Services RFP on Tuesday, April 24 at NYCEDC. The meeting will be an opportunity for potential respondents to ask questions regarding the RFP. Register now.
nycedc:

NYCEDC, in connection with the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, is seeking financially sustainable and innovative proposals from qualified individuals, organizations or companies to develop, market, and manage the “Made in NY” Media Center, a media hub that will foster innovation and content creation, strengthen sense of community and networking opportunities, and promote economic development in the media sectors in New York City by:
Providing affordable workspace to emerging media entrepreneurs and companies
Providing adjacent space for educational and networking programming to workspace users and the broader media community, and
Facilitating collaboration across various media industry segments and participants
Specifically, the media center will provide media entrepreneurs with affordable workspace and serve as a central meeting place where traditional media companies and new media entrepreneurs can meet, interact and collaborate. It will also host educational workshops and training sessions catered to segments across the media industry, to encourage cross-sector learning and creative cooperation that will ensure that the media industry is well-positioned for the digital age. The media center will also support new businesses in emerging media, like interactive entertainment, digital advertising and mobile app development, by providing high-quality, ready-to-use office space that will accommodate numerous companies and a variety of employees. The space should include conference rooms, production office space and a screening room.
View the RFP for more details. Responses are due no later than June 15, 2012. Find out more about NYCEDC’s initiatives to support the media and emerging tech sector in NYC.

What we’re seeing is emergence of Hyphen-Tech. Technology plus Media, Technology plus Advertising, Technology plus Finance, Technology plus Fashion. In worlds where tech is driving innovation around industries, being near those industries accelerates innovation and growth. New York is ideally suited to grow technology companies in these verticals and, in particular, in social media software where New York’s diversity, population density, and frenetic pace helps people-powered software innovate in rapid cycles.
