NYC BigApps Ideas Challenge

By Andrew Chen, Kristy Sundjaja, and Steven Strauss
Center for Economic Transformation

We’re really happy to announce the launch of the NYC BigApps Ideas Challenge. As we move forward from BigApps 2.0 and are on the road towards BigApps 3.0, we’ve designed the BigApps Ideas competition to involve the entire NYC community as participants. Both developers and non-developers alike will have the opportunity to submit ideas and have a chance to win from a cash prize pool of $5,000. The process is simple: Go to the website, submit an idea, and have the public vote up your ideas. The top 25 ideas will win $100 each. From there, our panel of judges will select the top 10 to win an additional $250 each. The competition submission period ends at 5 p.m. EST on July 28th.

With this challenge, we’re working to expand the NYC BigApps program to involve all the citizens of NYC and lay the groundwork for the creation of new, spectacular apps that enhance everyday lives and businesses in NYC. We believe in the creativity of New Yorkers and the power of technology to source the best of your ideas. With this inspiration, great applications – and, we hope, great companies – may be borne. By involving the whole community, the best of the best ideas can be shared.

We are looking forward to sifting through your creative ideas for useful apps for New Yorkers. Give us what you got! Be on the lookout for even more competitions coming in the future, including Hackathon events and NYC BigApps 3.0.

Check out the new Ideas Challenge and learn more about the annual NYC BigApps competition. And let us know if you have any questions in the comment box.
