Congratulations to the six finalist teams of NYC Next Idea, our second annual competition for international students to pitch their ideas for starting a business in New York City!

This year, over 150 teams entered from 30 different countries. Last December, we announced the 20 semifinalists. The semifinalists had one month to complete their full business plans, and we selected the final six teams from this group. The 2010-2011 Finalists are:

Undergraduate Track (alpha order)

  • Sirocco, EDHEC Business School (France)
Building high-end full-body dryers for NYC sports clubs, spas, and hotels

Graduate Track (alpha order)

  • FoodShrink, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (India)

These teams will travel to New York City the week of April 6, 2011 and will pitch their business plans to a panel of judges who will select the winning team for each track. Along with networking opportunities with NYC-based investors, entrepreneurs, professors, and government officials for all finalists, the winning graduate team will receive a $20,000 cash prize, and the winning undergraduate team, $15,000.
