“Econ survey brings more positive vibe”

In today’s NY Daily News, “things are looking up” for New York City’s small businesses, according to the latest findings of the American Express OPEN Small Business Monitor. Some facts and figures:

  • Half of local owners have a positive outlook on the economy and on their business prospects… up from 38% who felt that way in the spring.
  • 83% say they plan to grow their businesses, up from 71%.
  • Some 35% said they plan to hire over the next six months, up from 32% who said that early in the year.
  • While 76% of small businesses said they were facing cash-flow issues in the spring, the group has shrunk to 42%.
